Our Group Reflection
The marina barrage trip was fun and exciting. It allowed us to learn countless of new things which made us gained new knowledge. We enjoyed the trip as we had learned more about reservoirs and why the marina barrage was built. We learnt about the usefulness of the marina barrage and how it stops floods. We also learned about the formation and structure of the marina barrage. We also learned about the reason of each of the stations and why it was built. We learned about the meaning behind the structure of the marina barrage and the reason it was built. Also the importance of the marina barrage and its significance was explained to us. This experience was truly an enjoyable experience and an exciting experience. This learning journey was truly one with much knowledge gained. This kind of learning journey was truly one that should be organized often.

Station 4: Dam
1. What are your thoughts and feelings as you walk along the dam to the other side of the bank?
• It was hot
• The dam was long
• It was tiring
• Beautiful view
2. Suggest a method thay you can use to measure the length of the dam without the use of any tools or equipment.
• Footsteps
3. What do you think will happen if there are sudden increases in the water levels on either side of the dam ?
• To control the flooding
4. What do you think is the purpose of the dam? Give evidence to support your answer.
• To store water / supply of water
• To prevent flooding
5. What do you understand by the term 'reservoir'?
• A place to store water for future use and pure them

• Yes it is, because the barrage also store water for future use

1.Sketch what you see in the surrounding in the space provided
2. Note if there are ships passing by the barrage or near the barrage
3.Based on your observations, what are some of the environmental issues that may arise as a result of the barrage being built at its current location?
Oil spills and Littering.
4. How will it affect us?
• If there are oil spills, it can kill the sea creatures, as they accidentally drink the oil.
• Litter will kill the sea creatures, and make the sea dirty, we need to clean the dead sea creatures also.
5. Suggest ways that we can prevent this to happen.
• Always do oil check whether it is spilled or not.
• Do fine for the person who do littering.
• Build more water plant.
• Put more notices about not to litter
• Ask the ships to be more careful.

Must-Stops At Marina Barrage
Here are some places that you must visit when you are going to the Marina Barrage !
1.The Barrage / Marina Bridge
The barrage comprises nine steel crest gates,each 30m long built across the 350m wide Marina Channel, Besides separating seawater from freshwater,it also acts as a tidal barrier to keep out high tides.The 5m tall steel gates can be lowered during heavy rain so that water from the reservoir can be released into the sea
2.Drainage Pumps
Seven vertical-shaft,axial-flow gigantic pumps,with an individual capacity of 40m³/sec, drain excess storm water into the sea when the storm coincides with high tide.Driven by a 1600kW electric motor,they provide a combined pumping capacity of 280m³/sec when all seven pumps are operating.Each pump can empty an Olympic-sized swimming pool in one minute.
3.Green Roof
Landscaped to integrate with the surrounding environment, the Green Roof doubles up as a recreational space, open to public access.It serves as an isulation to lower the temperature of the building.
4.Central Coutyard
The hub of numerous water features and play areas for visitors,young and old, to get in touch with water and soak in all the fun.
5.Solar Park
Visit the largest Solar Park in Singapore covering an area of 1,200m².The 405 solar panels generate electricity used for indoor lightning and power points in the Marina Barrage
